hi evereybody! Merry Christmas! and a happy New Year!! so my topic for today is about addictive sex. This topic is for a New year special to you all so enjoy reading
When sex is separated from love and care, it can become
addictive. Rather than bringing us close to someone, it becomes a block to
intimacy. This kind of sex frequently involves secret agendas. Addictive sex
does not open up feelings but is carried out in an attempt to hide them. Participants
are not alive and present to themselves or their partners.
Addictive sex is time spent attempting to have orgasm with
another body, often while fantasizing someone else. It is skin in search of a “high”.
After the high, participants feel lonely,
empty, and often, disgusted. While money may not cross palms directly there is
often a covert bargain: “I’ll be sexual if you pretend to care”;” I’ll be nice
to you and buy you things if you’re sexual with me”; “I promise not to notice
that you’re ripping me off if you’re sexual with me”; “I promise not to leave
you if you’re sexual with me.”
Is this the way people want sex? I don’t think so. Why, then
, do we continue this loveless, exploitive form of sex? Because of a profound
long-standing conditioning in our culture that says sex is love, sex is power,
and sex makes us important.
I believe addictive sexual behavior reflects a great
spiritual malaise. Addictive sex goes with our belief that things outside us
can make us happy. Addictive sex goes with our belief that more, bigger,
richer, and faster are better. Addictive sex is
a flight from self-knowledge and from the knowledge that we are
exploiting others.
